UV
sterilizers utilize ultra-violet light to kill micro-organisms
found in pond water. Of course, the use of UV sterilizers to purifying
water is not used only pond applications - hospitals have been using
similar devices for years.
Realize that even if you use a UV sterilizing device,
you still need to have a bio-filter. Bio-filters are important for
removing ammonia. Also, even with one, you are not going to have perfectly
sterile pond water - there will still be bacteria on your fish and
on the pond liner, etc.
Nonetheless, using on can help you control the amount
of harmful bacteria, waterborne microorganisms and algae.
If you have a koi pond, you may want to consider purchasing
a UV sterilizer for it. While it is not necessary to have one, it
can be quite helpful. And where can you get one? Right here, of course
-- buy one from us at Pond Depot and get a one for a price that you
will love!
